Play Cricket at Almondbury

Young players - boys and girls - are wanted for a new under-13 team at Almondbury Cricket Club.

Thursday coaching sessions, from 5.30pm-6.30pm, are already running at the cricket club on Fernside Avenue to help players hone their skills for Sunday morning matches.

The team has been started following the success of in-school cricket sessions and an Easter cricket camp run by Kirklees Sports Development at Almondbury High School.  But more young players are still needed.

Any youngster, school Year 8 or under, interested in cricket should either contact Paul Cummins, Kirklees Sports Development, tel: 01484 234093, for more information or turn up at a Thursday coaching session.  The sessions, taken by Paul Cummins and Phil Senior, cover batting, bowling and fielding skills and finish with a game.

EXTRACT FROM EXAMINER

ROMIDA EXAMINER SALVER VS HOLMFIRTH (A)

The outstanding individual performance of the day was by B Hussain of Almondbury who scored 25 and then took four for three in a very high-scoring game at Holmfirth.

Both sides scored more than 120 and only seven wickets fell in the day, Holmfirth going through despite the efforts of Hussain.
