Indifferent Finish To a Positive Season.

2009 came to an end with a loss for the 1st XI and victory for the 2nd XI. The 1sts lost away to Shelley but promotion was already confirmed to the new look Division Two for the 2010 season. Meanwhile the 2nds won at home to Shelley, with only 5 victories this season most players seemed disappointed with the talent available the 2nds should have done a whole lot better.

SEPTEMBER STARTS WITH SUCCESS

Both sides tasted success this weekend with 1ST XI having a scrappy win over Linthwaite, Dave Swan and Amir Qadeer steering to 188 for victory and 5 more points. HOPKINSON TROPHY is a possibilty!!!

Whilst at Fernside Avenue Khalid Mahmood's 4 wicket haul helped the 2ND XI to only their 4th victory of the season.

ALMONDBURY ARE TWENTY20 CHAMPIONS!!!

Martin Sykes led an ACC XI to victory in a competition in which Almondbury CC are still unbeaten in this its 3rd year(Old Almondburians won 2008 on a bowl off).

Dave Swan showed his capabilities with 55* and 44, whilst Danny Russell took vital wickets when needed (2/33 & 3/25) and Antony Langton was electric in the field with catches and run outs.

ENGLAND REGAIN THE ASHES!!!!!!(but 1st & 2nd XI lose)

Wham Bam Thank you MOBY!!!!!!

Mohammad Mobeen smashed his way to 131(15x6, 7x4) in little time as 1ST XI scored 324/7 off of 35 overs. Moby's knock included 36 in 1 over and 39 off an extended Danny Muhall over.

and 2ND XI lost again....

Moby's Gun Show

1ST XI Burgle the Points as 2NDs are Put to Sleep at the Bridge!!zzzzzzzz

Mohammad Mobeen's brilliant 8 for 21 was the stand out perfomance of the weekend restricting Armitage Bridge to 148 but a poor show with the bat meant tailenders Waz Khalliq (45*) & Martin Sykes (25*) had to bat well to see them home. Whilst down at Armitage Bridge the 2nd XI, all out for 98 had to endure boring but efficient 38 overs as another loss was conceded.

Kamran Stranded in the Rain!!!

Both sides had wash outs this weekend but Atif Kamran was left with a bitter taste in his mouth as his 99 NOT OUT was the last action before the rains came.

Seventh Heaven for Wasim as 1ST XI get back that winning feeling!!

169 all out was more than enough as Wasim Kalliq took 7 for 49 against a poor Paddock batting side to help the 1sts maintain their promotion push.

Fiaz stars as 2nd XI claim victory whilst 1ST XI slump continues!!!                                   (17/07/09)

Fiaz Ahmed's 93 along with newcomer Khalid Mahmood(79) and in form Antony Langton(40) saw the 2nd XI to 289 despite losing 1st teamer Nadeem Latif for a golden duck on his first comeback game since injury.
